October marks National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities and promote inclusive employment practices. At QSAC, we’re proud to support the autism community through our innovative workforce development and employment services programs. In this post, we have also incorporated two fantastic videos highlighting the EmployAbility initiative of the New York State Office of People with Developmental Disabilities.
QSAC’s Commitment to Workforce Development
Our dedicated programs aim to empower individuals on the autism spectrum to achieve their career goals and thrive in the workplace. We offer:
- Vocational training and skill development
- Job placement assistance
- On-the-job support and coaching
- Career counseling and guidance
These services are tailored to meet each individual’s unique needs, ensuring they have the tools and support necessary to succeed in their chosen career paths.
Supporting NDEAM and QSAC’s Vocational Programs
As we celebrate NDEAM, we invite our community to join us in promoting inclusive employment practices. Here are some ways you can get involved and support our mission:
- Offer Internships: Provide valuable work experience to individuals on the autism spectrum by offering internship opportunities within your organization.
- Participate in Work-Based Learning Activities: Partner with QSAC to host work-based learning activities, giving our program participants exposure and/or hands-on experience in various industries.
- Volunteer as a Training Site: Help individuals develop practical skills by serving as a volunteer training site for our day habilitation programs throughout New York City and Long Island.
- Consider Our Candidates for Employment: When hiring for your team or company, consider our highly qualified candidates who have completed our vocational training programs.
